Healthcare Informatics Certificate Program

Our healthcare informatics certificate program is built for efficiency.

Electronic medical records and patient privacy mandates have created an increased demand for healthcare IT professionals. The Advanced Certificate in Healthcare Informatics prepares graduates for careers in health and medical informatics in academic, industrial, and hospital and other healthcare settings.

Our students are trained to use information technology for efficient, accurate healthcare delivery and management. People who choose this specialization are often IT professionals pursuing health information management or healthcare professionals pursuing information technology specializations. Our curriculum was developed from the model curriculum of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). It also aligns with the criteria of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Information and Information Management (CAHIIM).

The following admissions requirements apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Completed undergraduate statistics course
  • Completed undergraduate information systems course
  • A 500-word essay on reasons for applying to the program
  • Two letters of recommendation
