The Master of Science in Nursing: Adult Health Nurse Practitioner entails in-depth study of adult health nursing. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge and practical skills while exploring the issues and forces within the healthcare delivery system that affect the roles of the advanced practice nurse. Students have opportunities to work with advanced practice nurses and other health professionals in a variety of clinical settings.
Through study of the many facets of physical illness and nursing care, this component prepares students to become nurse practitioners in adult health nursing. The program emphasizes scientific inquiry as a toll for building clinical knowledge and testing the validity of the theoretical assumptions underlying nursing practice.
This 51-credit program is divided among core, specialty core, and specialty courses as follows:
- 15 credits in core courses
- 18 credits in specialty core courses
- 15 credits in specialty courses
- 3 credits Capstone Project
This degree may be completed through either full time or part time study.

Full Time Program
This program is completed in two to three years including summers (seven semesters). Students will be expected to complete 6–12 credits per semester, plus a 1 credit practicum course during the final summer semester.

Part Time Program
This program is completed in three to four years including summers (10 semesters). Students will be expected to complete 3–6 credits per semester, plus a 1 credit practicum course during the final summer semester.
