Course Objectives
NUR 485: Alterations in Mental Health: A Holistic Approach (Clinical)
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
- develop a body of knowledge about mental illness that will form a holistic framework for psychiatric-mental health nursing practice.
- utilize methods of inquiry, critical thinking, nursing informatics, and other resources to deliver holistic health care to mentally ill clients and their families.
- use nursing process to support optimal well-being of mentally ill clients and their families.
- pursue self-directed learning and growth in intellectual curiosity.
- demonstrate the values of caring and the uniqueness of the person when interacting with clients, peers, and mental health team members.
- provide culturally congruent nursing care for mentally ill clients and their families.
- explore age-related mental illness problems and issues.
