Course Objectives
NUR 455: Chronic Care
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
- demonstrate a holistic approach to caring for adult clients and families with physiologic alterations.
- determine appropriate holistic nursing assessments for adult clients with selected physiologic alterations.
- formulate specific nursing diagnoses for adult clients with selected physiologic alterations.
- determine appropriate holistic nursing interventions which support optimal well-being in adult clients with selected physiologic alterations.
- describe and apply nursing research findings applicable to the holistic nursing care of adult clients with physiologic alterations.
- develop a body of nursing knowledge enabling one to manage holistic nursing care of adult clients with selected physiologic alterations.
- develop and implement a comprehensive client teaching plan.
- describe and apply ethical and legal considerations relevant to adult clients with physiologic alterations.
- utilize critical thinking, research data, nursing informatics, and other resources to deliver holistic health care to adult clients with physiologic alterations.
- use appropriate technologies in the process of assessing and monitoring children.
- assist clients to achieve a peaceful end of life.
- demonstrate sensitivity to personal and cultural influences on the individual's reactions to the illness experience.
- demonstrate the ability to prioritize nursing care.
