Course Objectives
NUR 421: Teaching in Nursing Practice
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
- develop a body of knowledge about the process of teaching-learning that will form a holistic framework for the nurse-educator role.
- clarify the roles and responsibilities of the nurse as they relate to holistic health education.
- identify bio-psycho-social-spiritual and cultural factors that influence ability and readiness to learn.
- assess and document a learning need of a designated population.
- develop and implement a culturally congruent teaching-learning plan.
- integrate relevant research into the teaching-learning plan.
- describe the teaching-learning theory on which the plan is based.
- develop criteria for evaluating the teaching-learning process.
- describe and apply legal and ethical considerations relevant to the teaching-learning process.
