Course Objectives
NUR 365: Alterations in the Holistic Integrity of the Childbearing Family (Clinical)
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
  1. demonstrate a holistic approach to caring for the childbearing family.
  2. determine appropriate holistic nursing assessments for childbearing families experiencing complications and threats to health.
  3. formulate specific nursing diagnoses for childbearing families.
  4. determine appropriate holistic nursing interventions which support optimal well-being in childbearing families.
  5. describe and apply nursing research findings applicable to the holistic nursing care of childbearing families.
  6. differentiate low-risk and high-risk pregnancy status.
  7. describe and apply ethical and legal considerations relevant to the childbearing family.
  8. utilize critical thinking, research data, nursing informatics, and other resources to deliver holistic health care to the childbearing family.
  9. demonstrate competence in nursing management of the childbearing family.
  10. demonstrate competence in nursing management of the normal newborn from birth to discharge.
  11. develop an awareness of the roles of the nurse in prevention and promotion of health.
  12. identify deviations in the newborn.
  13. use appropriate technologies in the process of assessing and monitoring clients.
  14. demonstrate the ability to prioritize care.
  15. analyze common disorders affecting childbearing families.
