NUR 314: Family/Group/Community Assessment
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
- discuss the dynamic interrelationship between man and environment as determinants of health.
- articulate the conceptual model of the natural history of disease.
- apply health statistics data to the diagnosis of community health problems.
- describe epidemiological principles related to selected health problems in nursing practice at all three levels of prevention.
- conduct and document a holistic nursing assessment, based on knowledge of systems theory for a family, group, and a community.
- interpret assessment data to identify health strengths/risks and problems in client's experiencing a crisis situation.
- describe the cultural patterns of aggregates coping with daily living stress and crisis situations.
- describe principles of collaboration, between consumers and providers of health care in assessing need for health services and health resources.
- define managed care models and describe the nursing role in managed care.
- describe ethical, legal and economical aspects of managed care in today's society.
