Course Objectives
NUR 312: Health Assessment Throughout the Life Span (Laboratory)
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
- demonstrate a systematic and holistic approach to physical assessment and competence in performing skills of inspection, palpation, and auscultation.
- demonstrate proficiency in communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to elicit a thorough health history.
- identify risk factors that influence health.
- organize the data obtained from the health history and demonstrate a systematic method of recording that information.
- prepare a person physically and emotionally for a health history and a physical examination.
- evaluate and document findings (history and physical) to identify normal and deviations from normal.
- demonstrate clinical judgment and knowledge about the meaning and interpretation of physical signs and symptoms.
- develop and articulate appropriate (NANDA approved) nursing diagnoses that reflect the client's health needs and priorities.
