Course Objectives
NUR 312: Health Assessment Throughout the Life Span (Laboratory)
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
  1. demonstrate a systematic and holistic approach to physical assessment and competence in performing skills of inspection, palpation, and auscultation.
  2. demonstrate proficiency in communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to elicit a thorough health history.
  3. identify risk factors that influence health.
  4. organize the data obtained from the health history and demonstrate a systematic method of recording that information.
  5. prepare a person physically and emotionally for a health history and a physical examination.
  6. evaluate and document findings (history and physical) to identify normal and deviations from normal.
  7. demonstrate clinical judgment and knowledge about the meaning and interpretation of physical signs and symptoms.
  8. develop and articulate appropriate (NANDA approved) nursing diagnoses that reflect the client's health needs and priorities.
