Course Objectives
NUR 285: Human Assessment: A Holistic Approach
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
- identify multiple sources of data and appropriate methods of collecting bio-psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual client data.
- apply principles of effective communication that apply to a holistic interview.
- develop a systematic approach for completing a holistic health history.
- conduct a comprehensive physical exam all the while considering the client's psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions.
- describe developmental and age-related changes from adolescence through late adulthood in health assessment data.
- analyze holistic human assessment data and begin to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses.
- demonstrate certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- describe nursing research findings applicable to nursing assignment.
- conduct and record a holistic health assessment.
- incorporate the professional nursing values into the collection and interpretation of health data.
