Course Objectives
NUR 285: Human Assessment: A Holistic Approach
Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:
  1. identify multiple sources of data and appropriate methods of collecting bio-psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual client data.
  2. apply principles of effective communication that apply to a holistic interview.
  3. develop a systematic approach for completing a holistic health history.
  4. conduct a comprehensive physical exam all the while considering the client's psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions.
  5. describe developmental and age-related changes from adolescence through late adulthood in health assessment data.
  6. analyze holistic human assessment data and begin to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses.
  7. demonstrate certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  8. describe nursing research findings applicable to nursing assignment.
  9. conduct and record a holistic health assessment.
  10. incorporate the professional nursing values into the collection and interpretation of health data.
