What is the TEAS?
The TEAS is the Test of Essential Academic Skills offered by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI). It is designed to assess the general academic preparedness of students entering a nursing program in the areas of science, mathematics, reading and English. Please note that Adelphi is using Version V of the TEAS.
Which students need to take the TEAS?
Undergraduate transfer students applying for Fall 2010 (and beyond) admission to Adelphi School of Nursing need to take the TEAS. High school seniors, RN to BSN program applicants, PATH program applicants, and graduate applicants do not need to take the TEAS.
What does the test consist of?
The test consists of four sections, 170 multiple choice items, and takes a total of four hours to complete. It is a Paper Pencil exam.
How do I prepare for the TEAS?
Adelphi University recommends the following study guide to students who wish to prepare for the TEAS:

This study guide can be purchased via the ATI website Online Store.
What are the required passing scores for consideration of admission into Adelphi's School of Nursing program?
The minimum passing scores in each of the four areas are:
- Reading - 61.9%
- Math - 56.7%
- Science - 31.3%
- English - 50%
How many times can I take the TEAS?
Two attempts to achieve passing scores on the TEAS are allowed per admission cycle.
Students must pass all four parts of the exam, but scores from two separate exams may be combined in order to meet this requirement.
The minimum time frame between a first attempt and a repeat attempt is 45 days.
A second set of scores which is received earlier than 45 days from the first set of scores will not be reviewed. A third set of scores in any one admission cycle will not be reviewed. The total maximum number of attempts allowed for any one student is three.
What is the fee for the TEAS?
The cost for the TEAS is $40.00 payable to ATI upon registration.
How do I register for the TEAS?
You can only register for the TEAS online via the following link:
atitesting.com. Follow the Register for TEAS link on the bottom of the page. This link will have all current information regarding dates, times, and locations for the TEAS.
At this time the TEAS is only offered at Adelphi University's Garden City campus on listed date(s) below:
- Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 8:30 a.m.
Registration is only opened for new dates once the previous dates are filled to capacity. (150 seats are available each date).
Students needing alternate dates and/or locations can sit for the TEAS exam (Version V) at participating PSI Testing Centers.You must register online at atitesting.comand select in the dropdown menu TEAS at PSI. The fee is $110.
How do I get my results?
Your test results will only be available to you via your online ATI account in approximately 5-7 business days. Adelphi University will not release scores to individual students.
