Admission, Retention, and Other Requirements| FAQs about the NET

1. What it is
It is a computer based exam testing the following:
  • math skills (from basics through algebra)
  • reading comprehension (at the 10th grade level) for science textbooks
  • a reading rate exam
  • an evaluation of test-taking skills
  • a stress level profile
  • a social interaction profile
  • learning style evaluation

2. Scores Required
A minimum composite score of 60 on the reading section and 65 on the math section for entrance into the nursing program.

3. Cost
The fee to students will be $40.00. The fee to have results sent to Adelphi from prior testing centers/dates will be $40.00.

4. No online testing is available

5. Registration
Students may access www.eriworld.com/net or call 800-299-EXAM to complete the registration process.

A confirmation letter from ERI and a photo ID must be presented at the door in order to gain entrance to the test site on the day of exam.

Registration for test dates will close 5 days prior to test.

NON- New York state residents ONLY
Out of state applicants may test at a Pearson VUE location. Information for this option can be found at www.eriworld.com/net. The fee is $100. Out of state tests must be completed by June 28, 2009 in order to be considered for Fall admission to Adelphi.

6. Score reports will be sent directly to Adelphi University Admissions Office approximately a week after the exam. Students will also receive a copy of their test scores in the mail to their home approximately a week after the exam.

Upcoming NET dates for Spring (January) 2010 applicants to Adelphi University:

Garden City Campus:

  • Sunday, September 20
  • Saturday, October 17
  • Sunday, November 15
Manhattan Campus:
  • Saturday, September 26
  • Sunday, October 4
  • Sunday, November 15
Registration for each monthly date will be opened up after the previous month's test has been filled to capacity.

Students may only take the NET exam twice during an admission cycle.

Any potential student who takes the NET test and fails on their first try is given an option to re-take the test on a designated re-take date. The re-take date for Spring (January)2010 admission to Adelphi University is Sunday December 13. If a student registers for a re-take on any other date they will not be permitted to take the test. Registration for December 13 will be opened in mid November.

Any student who arrives late, to a test will not be permitted to take that exam and must reschedule.

After December 13, the NET will no longer be administered by Adelphi/ERIworld.

8. The NET Study Guide will help you with specific test taking skills for the Nurse Entrance Test (NET). Practice tests, which have been modeled to simulate the Entrance Exams are designed to provide you good practice and test taking skills. (paperback - 156pgs). The study guide book is available at the Adelphi bookstore in the UC on campus (the link is below for directions and store hours of operation).

9. Results from NET will not be accepted as an admission test after the Spring 2010 semester application cycle.

Students applying to Adelphi School of Nursing for the Fall of 2010 will be required to take an alternate entrance exam in order to be considered for admission.
